Who we are
We are Zane Cooper and Daniel Snell (brother in-laws), and we’re excited to share our butcher shop story with you! It’s a bit lengthy, so we appreciate your patience as we take you on this journey with us. For over a decade, we both worked at Canfor Plateau. A few years ago, while browsing Facebook Marketplace, we stumbled upon a fantastic deal for a cooler, a freezer, and some cutting supplies. Since our families have always had difficulties finding a processing and hanging space for our animals, we thought, why not create something closer to home? This could be a wonderful opportunity to ensure food security for our families.
The very next day, after purchasing the cooler, freezer, and those essential supplies, our mill unexpectedly announced that half of it (A-mill) would be closing. This uncertainty in the forest industry sparked the idea to expand our family cut and wrap shop into a full-fledged business. From clearing the land and running lines through trenches to hand threading thousands of bolts and framing structures, we've rolled up our sleeves and accomplished a daunting amount, all with generous help from our friends and family. As the mill officially closed its doors in December 2024, we eagerly anticipate opening our shop in the early months of 2025. We hope to serve our wonderful community and grow alongside them as we embark on this exciting new chapter!
